National Seminar in Portugal

The National Seminar concerning the International Erasmus+ Project “Young Mediators for Inclusion” – YMI, coordinated by Inovar Autismo, took place on 23rd November 2021 in Portugal.

The opening ceremony was attended by Ana Sofia Antunes, Secretary of State for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities, Maria João Camolas, the Councillor for social areas of Palmela City Council, and Ana Cristina Perdigão, the President of the Erasmus National Agency.

The event took place throughout the day, with over 50 participants, including many autistic people. The seminar was also broadcast live on Palmela City Council’s YouTube Channel.

In the first part of the seminar, Inovar Autismo’s team and ISCTE presented the main results obtained in Portugal.

Then, the testimonies of the several participants were presented: young mediators; technicians; autistic persons and their families.

In the afternoon, a panel of excellence debated the importance of mediation issues for the inclusion of autistic persons in the community. Professors Luís Capucha and Paulo Pedroso (ISCTE), Raquel Galhardo (IEFP), Alexandra Figueiredo (ANQEP), Raquel Lebre (vice-president of the Portuguese Association Voz do Autista) and Tânia Figueiredo and Sara Raposo (ASSOL) participated in the joint reflection.
