Because Only Together We Can

BUILD A WORLD WHERE ALL YOUTH ARE SAFE, STRONG & VALUED

WHO WE ARE

What is YMI?

The YMI project promotes the participation of autistic children and young people in activities developed by community structures, on equal terms with their peers, thanks to the support of “young mediators” to foster social inclusion. Running since 2019, this project is funded by the EU programme Erasmus+.

Who we are?

The YMI partnership brings together four International associations and was created under the coordination of the Portuguese association, Inovar Autismo. Three other autism associations include; (Autismo Burgos from Spain, Diversamente ODV from Italy, and Autism-Europe from Belgium), the ISCTE Business School from Portugal, and IntermediaKT from Greece, a non-profit organization working in vocational education, training and innovation.

Goals

The YMI aims to: (i) design and test a pilot innovative methodology in order to include children/youngsters on the Autism Spectrum in regular community on an equal basis with other children/youngsters structures, ii) training “young mediators for inclusion”; iii) training technicians and other staff of all community partners, in order to ensure the full participation of children/with autism; iv) design a European guide for the inclusion of children/youth with autism
